PIERCING AFTERCARE

-Wash your tattoo when you first get home and let it begin to dry out.

-Wash the tattoo and surrounding area with water and mild fragrance-free soap (Dial) at least twice a day.

-If clothing sticks to your tattoo, soak in cool water until it peels away.

-Always "blot" dry until tattoo is completely healed.

-Do NOT re-bandage tattoo.

-Do NOT apply alcohol, peroxide, or betadine to tattoo.

-Do NOT rub, pick, or scratch tattoo. (if it itches, slap it.)

-Apply a "thin" layer of  Aquaphor for itching and to keep moist. (Do not use Neosporin.) This can be purchased at stores like Walgreens or Walmart near the pharpacy section. DO NOT OVER APPLY.

-Application of Aquaphor should be light, The tat should NOT be "wet". THIN!

-Keep pets away from healing tattoo. Hair and dirt is bad for healing.

-Tattoo will peel in about a week. This is normal.

-Do not expose tattoo to sunlight for at least 2 weeks. It's not a crisis if you do, but its going to feel like a bad sunburn and may cause irritation. Sunlight in general is bad for any tattoo and causes it to fade.  Even after your tattoo is healed, be sure to always apply plenty of sunscreen over your tattoo to keep it vibrant.

-Do not "soak" in bathtub, hot tub, lakes, or pools for 2 weeks. Showers are ok.

-If the area around the tattoo becomes more and more red, discontinue any lotion, let tattoo dry out, Wash with antibacterial soap and water 3 times daily. Most redness and infection issues come from the person applying too much ointment and their pores become clogged.

-NOTE: Aquaphor is not going to make your tattoo heal faster.  It is there to help you with itching and to keep the piece moisturized. Don't over apply. YOU make your tattoo heal. Get rest, drink water, eat right to keep your immune system up.

-In the event of an infection of the tattoo, please consult with your physician (but please keep me in the loop).

-IMPORTANT!!!!!! Continue to periodically apply body lotion after your tattoo is healed to keep it looking nice and vibrant. You worked for it, take care of it.

-If you need touch ups, contact us any time.

-Note: On the first night after your tattoo, be mindful of your bed sheets as ink can sometimes stain them during the night while you sleep.
